This is a wonderful season of the year. The birds are singing and the bees are buzzing. It is a time for a fresh start and glorious renewal. My daughter sent me a text today that read: "Happy Spring break at 32 degrees!" While it has been a chilly start to Spring, we know that the seeds are about to burst through the ground with new life. Why? Because it's that season of the year.
Seasons matter. Years ago, I had a minister friend who would tell couples in his premarriage counseling class that they should date their future spouse for a full four seasons before getting married. He said that then they could see their partner in various settings and situations before making the life-long commitment of marriage. I guess he figured that how we acted at Easter and Halloween would be revelational. I agree.
Indeed, our lives move through various seasons as well. Some seasons are more productive than others. There are seasons when we plant, and others when we reap, and others when we are just digging up and preparing the soil. Each season is dependent on the other, and none is more important. Try not to remember certain times of your life as more productive than others. Life is a series of events where each decision impacts the whole. It would be a mistake to say that a season of reaping is more important than a season of sowing. Each season has it's place in your life.
Did you know that God controls time? It's true! God created time and He holds the seasons in His hands. No matter what season of life you are presently living, God is there to help you. Psalm 31:15 says, "My times are in Your Hand." In Daniel 2:21 we read: "He changes times and seasons; He deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning."
So, while it may be Spring on the calendar, you may be in a different season of life. Enjoy it, and trust God for what is ahead. He does all things well!
