Is it Breaking News or BROKEN NEWS? What has happened to the news? As kids, we loved the evening newspaper, and enjoyed reading the sports, weather, and news. In college, I would buy a copy of the vaunted New Your Times, just to see “all the news that’s fit to print.” The news was supposed to be impartial, with opinions only in the editorials. Radio was for music and baseball. Television was fantasy. But newspapers could be trusted for facts. No more!
Today, from hard copy to digital platforms, most media news outlets have been corrupted with the waters of political bias. Rarely can we sip from their “streaming news” with complete trust. James 3:11 NLT asks, “Does a spring of water bubble out with both fresh water and bitter water?” The answer is no, because even a little arsenic contaminates it all (1 Corinthians 5:6).
When the news media aligns with politicians to diminish the Bible, and all things righteous, they confuse the weak and mush the minds of the immature. In their rush to corrupt good manners (1 Corinthians 15:33), they have even twisted the noble words of those who founded our great nation. There appears to be no room for Godly discourse, or Scriptural principles. Secular humanism, an atheistic viewpoint based on naturalism, evolution, and ethical relativism, provides their blueprint for distortion.
With an iron fist of condescending tyranny, much of the media promotes the virtues of entitlement, inclusion, tolerance, and diversity, while denouncing perceived racial privilege, hate speech, fake news, and class envy. And all this is grounded in their own vague rules and prejudiced opinions that ignore criticism.
Our founding fathers would not support these subversive tactics, and would say that this attitude is exactly why they rebelled against King George III. Tyranny in any form is deplorable. The complicit media and these elected enemies of the state conspire to destroy the very fabric of our Godly nation. (Isaiah 24:5)
My sorrow deepens as I see these politicians belittle religion, especially Christianity. George Washington said, “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.” Abraham Lincoln said, “I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from the Savior of the world is communicated to us through this Book.”
It would appear that many elected leaders are bringing the USA to the rim of oblivion. The enemy nations may well be drawing lots for the opportunity to crush us. But we will probably crater from within before the hoards come to scavenge through what remains.
Our days are short. God’s great timetable is advancing without delay. Good News: Jesus is Coming soon! Consider Ecclesiastes 7:2, “The Lord cries as a voice in the wilderness, ‘It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of everyone; the living should take this to heart.’”
